Job role and responsibilities

This role goes beyond traditional “end-of-line testing”.

You will play a key role in shaping how testing is done across the team, introducing pragmatic test processes, and holding developers accountable for the quality of their own work.

Initially, the role will be heavily hands-on. Over time, you’ll help us move towards a more mature, structured approach to testing without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.

  • Hands-on testing
  • Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven)
  • Power Automate flows

  • Validate functional and non-functional requirements before release
  • Identify defects early and clearly articulate impact and root cause

  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and regression test packs

  • Reimagine, own and drive measurable Quality & Testing KPIs that will drive business decisions
  • Developer accountability & collaboration
  • Set clear expectations for developer testing before QA handover
  • Challenge incomplete or poorly tested work constructively and professionally
  • Coach developers on effective testing practices for Power Platform solutions

  • UAT facilitation
  • Familiarity with test management tools (e. g. Azure Dev Ops, Test Rail, similar)

  • Comfortable getting “hands dirty” with real testing
  • Confident communicator who can challenge constructively
  • Curious and improvement-focused
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and outcome-driven
  • What success looks like

• Within 6–9 months

  • Fewer avoidable defects reaching UAT or production
  • Developers consistently performing and evidencing their own testing
  • Clear, repeatable testing practices across projects
  • QA involved earlier in solution design and delivery discussions
  • Improved confidence in releases across the business
  • Work on meaningful, real-world Power Platform solutions
  • Influence how quality is approached across the organisation
  • Opportunity to grow the role as our delivery capability matures
  • A culture that values pragmatism, accountability, and continuous improvement

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
