The Role
As Business Development Manager, you'll be the engine of new customer growth across the UK. You'll own the full sales cycle from generating and qualifying leads through to demonstrations, proposals, and closing deals, selling our SaaS platform, EPOS hardware, card services, and professional services to new B2B customers. You'll be backed by marketing and lead generation support, an internal CRM, and an experienced office team. In addition to new business, you'll manage a small portfolio of key accounts, keeping you close to the market and building valuable case study relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Development
- Own the full sales cycle from prospect to close within an agreed UK territory, working to clear revenue targets.
- Generate new opportunities through outbound calling, networking, and follow-up of marketing-qualified leads.
- Build genuine understanding of each prospect's requirements by engaging multiple stakeholders.
- Deliver compelling on-site and online software demonstrations tailored to each audience.
- Prepare accurate, professional proposals and pricing; negotiate confidently to maximise margin.
- Hand off signed deals cleanly to the project management team for implementation.
- Pipeline & CRM Management
- Maintain a well-structured, up-to-date pipeline in the company CRM.
- Provide regular, insightful sales forecasts and pipeline reports to the Managing Director.
- Feed market intelligence back to the business.
- Account Management
- Act as the primary contact for a small portfolio of existing accounts.
- Conduct regular account review meetings to ensure ongoing satisfaction and uncover upsell opportunities.
- Commission earned on account sales as well as new business.
- Planning & Strategy
- Contribute to annual new business planning and revenue budgeting.
- Represent Kudos professionally at all times, in writing and in person.
Key Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Essential
- Proven B2B field sales experience, with a track record of independent prospecting and hitting targets.
- Comfortable selling technology; software, SaaS, or EPOS/payments experience is a strong advantage.
- Confident, credible communicator: equally effective on the phone, in a boardroom, or presenting to a group of stakeholders.
- Self-starter who thrives with autonomy; target-driven and resilient when the pipeline gets tough.
- Natural relationship builder; you listen well, read the room, and develop genuine closeness with prospects and clients.
- Strong numeracy; able to build and present pricing clearly and argue for your margin.
- Organised and disciplined about CRM hygiene.
