About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on, practical and reliable individual to join a growing solar PV installation company based around Reading and the surrounding areas. This role would suit someone with a strong background in practical site work, general labouring, handyman duties, roofing support, groundworks, cable pulling, trenching, or general installation support. You do not need to be a qualified electrician, but you must be confident using tools, solving practical problems, working on site, and supporting installation teams to deliver high-quality work. The ideal candidate will be proactive, physically fit, good with customers, and able to think on their feet. Experience within solar PV, roofing, construction, or electrical installation support would be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Solar PV installation teams on projects across Reading and surrounding areas
  • Assist with general site preparation and practical installation tasks
  • Carry out cable pulling, containment support, trenching, and groundworks where required
  • Support roofing teams with solar panel installation preparation
  • Assist with moving materials, tools, and equipment safely on site
  • Complete practical handyman-style tasks across installation projects
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Work closely with electricians, roofers, and senior installers
  • Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues, and site teams
  • Identify practical issues on site and help find workable solutions
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times

Requirements

  • Strong practical background, ideally within construction, roofing, handyman work, groundworks, solar, electrical support, or general site work
  • Confident using hand tools and power tools
  • Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach with customers
  • Willingness to learn and support different areas of the installation process
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
  • Solar PV, roofing, trenching, or cable pulling experience would be highly advantageous
  • Own transport and full licence
