Valoris Group Limited is recruiting on behalf of a growing solar PV and battery storage installation company that is looking to add a practical, hands-on Solar PV Installation Support Operative to its installation team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical site work and wants to build a long-term career within the renewable energy sector. The role would suit someone from a solar PV, roofing, construction, carpentry, electrical support, groundwork, engineering, handyman or general site background. You do not need to be a qualified electrician, but you must be confident using hand tools and power tools, comfortable working on site, and willing to support both the roofing and cabling sides of solar PV installations.
The successful candidate will be reliable, physically fit, practical, customer-focused and able to work well as part of a small, professional installation team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support solar PV and battery storage installation teams on domestic projects
- Assist with practical site preparation and installation tasks
- Support roofing teams with solar panel installation preparation
- Carry out cable pulling, containment support and basic installation assistance
- Assist with trenching, groundworks and practical site tasks where required
- Help move tools, panels, batteries, materials and equipment safely on site
- Load and unload vans, prepare equipment and assist with storehouse duties
- Deal with deliveries, site waste and general material organisation
- Work closely with electricians, roofers and senior installers
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues
- Help identify practical issues on site and work with the team to find solutions
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times
Requirements
- Strong practical background in solar, roofing, construction, electrical support, carpentry, groundworks, handyman work, engineering or general site work
- At least 1 year of solar installation experience or equivalent practical trade experience
- Confident using hand tools and power tools
- Comfortable working outdoors and carrying out physical site work
- Able to work safely at height, or willing to undertake training
- Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach with customers
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Valid UK driving licence
- Own transport and ability to commute to Reading and the surrounding area
