What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as the senior manager on duty overnight, taking ownership of the hotel and full accountability for any incidents that occur during your shift.
- Leading and supporting the night team—reception, security, and porters—to ensure everyone has what they need to perform well.
- Completing the night audit accurately and on time, balancing the day’s trading and preparing reports for the morning management team.
- Serving as the calm, capable point of contact for guests overnight, handling check‑ins, queries, complaints, and occasional challenges with confidence.
- Conducting fire safety and security checks throughout the night, and leading the response if anything goes wrong.
- Walking the building regularly to monitor standards, safety, and to identify any necessary fixes before the day shift opens.
- Making swift, sound decisions when unexpected issues arise—especially during the early hours when you are the only person available.
- Handing over cleanly and clearly to the day team, ensuring nothing is missed or dropped.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel duty management, night manager, or senior front‑office role.
- A genuine night‑owl mindset—performing best when the clock strikes 3am.
- Strong leadership skills with the confidence to manage a small team and take charge when it matters.
- A calm head under pressure and good judgement when working independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent guest‑service skills—offering a warm welcome at any hour.
- A solid grasp of hotel operations, health & safety, and fire/security procedures (or a genuine willingness to learn).
- Sharp attention to detail, especially for night audit and financial reporting.
