The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Aviation project, supporting the design and delivery of Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facilities and associated infrastructure. You will play a key role in delivering complex, multidisciplinary aviation projects, working alongside experts in building services, sustainability, energy, BIM, and other specialist disciplines. This is an opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects while shaping next-generation, low-carbon aviation facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and coordination for aviation and MRO projects
- Deliver projects across all stages: feasibility, concept, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Prepare and review technical specifications, reports, and electrical design documentation
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
- Support business development through client engagement and technical input
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and industry best practices
- Contribute to sustainable and net-zero carbon design solutions
- Manage project delivery, including commercial performance, budgets, and timelines
- Drive innovation and support digital design and engineering transformation initiatives
Technical Expertise Required
- Strong experience in aviation facility design, particularly MRO hangars and support buildings
- Knowledge of aviation-specific systems, including:
- 400Hz aircraft ground power systems
- Aircraft servicing systems (eg, air start, hydraulics, compressed air, tooling)
- DSEAR regulations and ATEX environments
- Fire detection and suppression systems in aviation environments
- Electrical infrastructure design for complex facilities
About You
- Degree qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards (via IET, CIBSE, or equivalent)
- Proven experience delivering aviation or MRO projects
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams
- Commercial awareness with experience managing project finances and client relationships
- Solid understanding of industry regulations, standards, and emerging trends
- Passion for sustainable design and low-carbon solutions
