Our Energy sector client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the delivery of business and technology change initiatives. Reporting initially to the Portfolio Solutions Manager, the Business Analyst will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and delivery partners to understand business needs, analyse problems and opportunities, and translate requirements into clear, practical, and deliverable outputs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and maintaining Business Analysis artefacts, including requirements documents, process maps, data models, user stories, acceptance criteria, options analysis, and supporting documentation. They will also support projects involving business systems, data flows, integrations, customer-facing processes, billing, CRM, and operational change, ensuring business requirements are effectively captured, documented, and delivered throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating business situations, problems and opportunities where there is complexity, ambiguity or a need for structured analysis.
  • Eliciting, analysing, validating and documenting business, functional and non-functional requirements in a form that is clear, complete, traceable and fit for purpose.
  • Working with stakeholders to define scope, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, risks and priorities for assigned change initiatives.
  • Producing and maintaining Business Analysis artefacts, including requirements documents, process maps, data models, user stories, acceptance criteria, options analysis and supporting documentation.
  • Analysing current and future business processes to identify improvement opportunities, operational impacts and practical implementation considerations.
  • Supporting solution design by ensuring that business needs, process impacts, data requirements and integration considerations are understood by delivery teams and suppliers.
  • Contributing to business cases and options analysis by assessing operational, technical, financial and risk implications.
  • Supporting testing, implementation and transition activities by clarifying requirements, validating solution alignment and helping resolve defects or business questions.
  • Applying agreed Business Analysis standards, templates, methods and governance consistently across assigned work.
  • Maintaining clear, accessible and reusable analysis outputs that support delivery, operational continuity and organisational learning.

Experience

  • Working in the energy sector or another complex, regulated industry.
  • Working as a Business Analyst within a technology delivery environment.
  • Eliciting, analysing, documenting and managing requirements across the project or change lifecycle.
  • Business process analysis, process mapping and process improvement.
  • Working with business stakeholders, technology teams, delivery partners and third-party suppliers to support successful change delivery.
  • Producing clear and practical analysis artefacts, such as requirements documents, user stories, acceptance criteria, process models, data models and decision papers.
  • Supporting projects involving business systems, data flows, integrations, customer-facing processes, billing, CRM or operational change.
  • Supporting testing, implementation, change readiness or transition activities through clarification of requirements and business impacts.
