Job Description

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES Essential

  • Deep, real-world OT/ICS architecture experience within industrial, manufacturing, utilities, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Proven experience acting as a technical design authority or lead architect for OT networks, security architecture, and operational resilience programmes.
  • Strong understanding of IT/OT convergence, architectural integration patterns, and associated risk.
  • Expert working knowledge of IEC 62443, including zone/conduit modelling, and its practical application in target-state OT architecture design.
  • Practical understanding of industrial protocols (e. g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA, Profinet) and their architectural implications for segmentation and secure design.
  • Experience defining and owning reference architectures, technical standards, and design principles across large-scale OT/critical infrastructure estates.
  • Strong OT risk management capability, with the ability to translate threat and risk assessments into architectural decisions and mitigation designs.
  • Experience working with, and providing technical governance over, integrators, OEM vendors, and engineering partners.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks/practices (e. g., TOGAF, SABSA) and experience presenting designs to architecture review boards or senior technical governance forums is advantageous.

Desirable

  • Experience within a large global, regulated or systemically important organisation.
  • Experience across multiple OT environments, building types, regions or operating models.
  • Knowledge of building management systems, physical access control, CCTV, fire and life-safety systems, energy management, environmental monitoring or data centre operational systems.
  • Experience with OT asset visibility, cyber-physical systems platforms, network monitoring or security monitoring technologies.
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and architecture governance processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and guidance such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-82, ISO/IEC 27001, NIS2 or sector-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Experience designing for legacy systems, long equipment lifecycles, constrained maintenance windows and high availability environments.
  • Experience supporting procurement, commercial evaluation, technical due diligence or supplier assurance.
  • Relevant architecture, cyber security, networking, engineering or IEC 62443 qualifications
