We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer or Power System Engineer with a strong background in HVDC systems to support the design, analysis, and delivery of high-voltage power transmission projects. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team contributing to the energy transition, enabling large-scale renewable integration and interconnection projects worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform power system studies (e.g., load flow, short circuit, transient stability, harmonic analysis) for HVDC and hybrid AC/DC systems.
- Design and specify HVDC system components, including converters (LCC/VSC), filters, cables, and control systems.
- Contribute to system architecture design, protection coordination, and grid code compliance.
- Support the integration of offshore wind, solar, and other renewable sources into transmission networks.
- Interface with OEMs, utilities, and transmission system operators (TSOs) on technical requirements and design reviews.
- Prepare technical documentation including specifications, reports, models, and drawings.
- Review contractor/subcontractor designs for compliance with project and regulatory standards.
- Support tender evaluations and construction phases, including FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, CIGRÉ, and national grid standards (e.g., NGESO in the UK).
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including energy analysts, civil engineers, and environmental consultants.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in high-voltage engineering, with at least 1–2 years in HVDC design, modelling, or implementation.
- Proficiency with power system simulation tools such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or PSS®E.
- Familiarity with HVDC technologies (VSC and LCC), protection schemes, and converter station design.
- Understanding of transmission systems, system planning, and network interconnection requirements.
