The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, and highly available Azure cloud environments supporting Digital, Engineering, Manufacturing, and IT transformation initiatives for a leading Aeroengine manufacturer in the UK. The role focuses on cloud platform engineering, automation, infrastructure modernization, operational excellence, and cloud governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available Azure cloud solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, governance, and compliance standards.
- Build, automate, and manage Azure infrastructure and platform services using Infrastructure as Code (ARM Templates) and PowerShell scripting.
- Lead application migration and cloud modernization initiatives, including deployment of Azure services, virtual networks, storage, databases, and platform components.
- Collaborate with architects, application developers, DevOps engineers, and data teams to troubleshoot infrastructure issues and optimize cloud performance, reliability, and security.
- Implement and manage cloud security controls, disaster recovery, high availability, monitoring, backup, and operational best practices while maintaining technical documentation and project deliverables.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline, with 10+ years of experience in Azure Cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).
- Proven expertise in Azure cloud architecture, application migration, infrastructure deployment, and automation using ARM Templates and PowerShell scripting.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure services including Virtual Machines, Azure AD, VNETs, Storage Accounts, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, Monitoring, Log Analytics, and VM Scale Sets.
- Good understanding of containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), along with networking, load balancing, WAF, security controls, and firewall management.
- Experience with High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), Linux administration (RHEL/Ubuntu), troubleshooting Azure connectivity issues, and working within Agile delivery environments.
