You will be involved in projects that support the transition to net zero, alongside works required to maintain and upgrade existing network infrastructure. The role will focus on high-voltage overhead line (OHL) schemes. You will work closely with bid, project development, pre-construction, design, procurement, and commercial teams. This is a hybrid role, requiring attendance at the office 2–3 days per week.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying project scope, risks, and opportunities
- Supporting bid kick-off meetings and developing bid programmes
- Collaborating with procurement and commercial teams throughout the tender process
- Reviewing, understanding, and constructively challenging proposed project solutions
- Analysing supply chain quotations and benchmarking costs
- Preparing tender prices using Excel and reviewing submissions with senior management (with potential future use of Candy software subject to client requirements)
- Producing client pricing documentation and supporting post-submission presentations
- Building and maintaining strong professional working relationships
What you will bring:
- Previous experience working on infrastructure projects (essential)
- Experience in estimating for 400kV overhead line projects (preferred)
- A basic understanding of engineering and construction methods and terminology
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- A working knowledge of contractual terminology
- The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
