This role involves delivering high-quality electro-mechanical substation design solutions across transmission and distribution networks. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to execute projects that meet technical standards, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver substation design (primary, protection & control, and layouts)
  • Develop single-line diagrams, SCADA systems, and auxiliary AC/DC designs
  • Ensure compliance with UK engineering standards and industry regulations
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated engineering solutions
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and consultants
  • Contribute to technical reporting and documentation

Requirements:

  • ~8+ years’ experience in transmission and distribution engineering
  • Strong background in substation design (up to 132kV or higher preferred)
  • Knowledge of UK standards, legislation, and safety practices
  • Experience with CT/VT selection, system studies, and design calculations
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Professional registration (IEng or working towards it)
  • Health & Safety certifications (IOSH, NEBOSH, etc.)
  • Experience with commissioning, CDM regulations, and safety training
