This role involves delivering high-quality electro-mechanical substation design solutions across transmission and distribution networks. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to execute projects that meet technical standards, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver substation design (primary, protection & control, and layouts)
- Develop single-line diagrams, SCADA systems, and auxiliary AC/DC designs
- Ensure compliance with UK engineering standards and industry regulations
- Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated engineering solutions
- Support and mentor junior engineers and consultants
- Contribute to technical reporting and documentation
Requirements:
- ~8+ years’ experience in transmission and distribution engineering
- Strong background in substation design (up to 132kV or higher preferred)
- Knowledge of UK standards, legislation, and safety practices
- Experience with CT/VT selection, system studies, and design calculations
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Professional registration (IEng or working towards it)
- Health & Safety certifications (IOSH, NEBOSH, etc.)
- Experience with commissioning, CDM regulations, and safety training
