Senior Internal Auditor - Energy Sector | Contract
Location: London - Hybrid (1-2 days onsite per week)

Duration: 6-month rolling contract
We're supporting a leading organisation within the UK energy sector in their search for an experienced Internal Auditor to join their team on a contract basis.
This is a hands-on role focused primarily on operational internal auditing, rather than purely IT audit. You'll be responsible for independently delivering audits across business operations, processes, risk management, governance and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver end-to-end operational and risk-based internal audits.
- Assess business processes, governance frameworks and internal controls, identifying risks and areas for improvement.
- Produce clear, evidence-based audit reports with practical recommendations.
- Provide independent assurance across projects, programmes and business change initiatives.
- Review compliance with internal policies, procedures and relevant standards, including ISO 27001 and ISO 9001.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to support continuous improvement and effective risk management.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong experience delivering operational internal audits, with broader exposure beyond IT auditing.
- IIA
- CIA, PIIA, CMIIA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Proven ability to independently manage audits from planning through to reporting.
- Strong understanding of risk management, governance and internal controls.
- Experience providing project and programme assurance.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and report-writing skills.
- Experience within energy, utilities or another regulated industry would be advantageous.
