The Role: Storage SRE with Developer & Automation Skills Location: Glasgow, UK Position Type: Contract Inside IR35 Remote work option Available: Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite Job Description: Essential skills/knowledge/experience: * Strong Python programming and automation expertise with experience in developing enterprise applications and infrastructure management tools. * Hands-on experience in enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, NFS, CIFS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, Object Storage, RAID, and Scale-out Storage solutions. * Proficient in Linux/Unix administration with strong troubleshooting skills across operating systems, storage, and networking environments. * Knowledge of cloud, virtualization, and container platforms such as AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Docker. * Experience in storage provisioning, monitoring, capacity management, and observability, with the ability to design highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions. * Strong programming expertise in Python for developing storage management tools, automation solutions, monitoring frameworks, and enterprise applications. * In-depth knowledge of SAN, NAS, Object Storage, NFS, CIFS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, RAID, Scale-out Storage, and storage provisioning, capacity management, and troubleshooting. * Hands-on experience with Linux (RHEL/Unix), container platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift/Docker), cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), and enterprise infrastructure operations. Desirable skills/knowledge/experience: * Experience with cloud-native and container technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Docker. * Knowledge of distributed and software-defined storage platforms including IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS), NetApp, EMC Atmos, HCP, and other enterprise storage solutions. * Understanding of SQL, databases, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts for application development and data management. * Familiarity with networking protocols and connectivity technologies such as TCP/IP, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, and SAN infrastructure. * Experience with system architecture, virtualization, observability, performance tuning, and capacity planning in large-scale enterprise environments
