About the Company

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst and Excel Modelling Consultant to support a focused assessment of a complex global supply-chain operation.

About the Role

Working within a small consultancy project team, you will gather, structure and analyse operational information from more than 30 international sites. You will then develop the Excel-based models needed to understand the current operation, identify improvement opportunities and support the design of a future operating solution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and track information received from more than 30 sites.
  • Review submissions and identify missing, inconsistent or unclear data.
  • Consolidate information from different sites and systems into a controlled, consistent structure.
  • Build and maintain the core Excel assessment and modelling suite.
  • Analyse sites, parts, suppliers, inventory, demand, performance and operating arrangements.
  • Segment and compare sites, suppliers and part categories.
  • Develop the data and analysis behind a global supply-chain network model.
  • Model current operational performance and potential improvement opportunities.
  • Build scenarios and sensitivities to test alternative assumptions and solutions.
  • Compare different service-delivery and operating-model options.
  • Quantify potential cost savings, efficiencies and working-capital improvements.
  • Support the development of the value case and commercial proposal.
  • Prepare analysis for selected site visits and update models following those assessments.
  • Present analytical findings clearly to the Assessment Director and wider project team.

Excel Modelling Requirements

A significant part of the assignment will involve developing practical Excel-based models that allow the project team to interrogate the operation and test different solution options. The modelling suite is expected to include:

  • Site and network modelling
  • Site segmentation and comparison
  • Part and product-category analysis
  • Supplier and sourcing analysis
  • Demand and consumption analysis
  • Inventory and working-capital modelling
  • Current operational performance
  • Service and operating-model comparisons
  • Opportunity and value modelling
  • Scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Solution-costing and commercial-model inputs

The models must be robust, controlled, transparent and easy for other members of the project team to understand and use.

Qualifications

  • Strong, practical Business Analysis and modelling experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with evidence of building complex models from scratch.
  • Experience using functionality such as Power Query, advanced formulas, pivot tables, data validation and scenario analysis.
  • Experience consolidating and analysing large datasets from multiple sites, business units or international operations.
  • Strong understanding of supply-chain operations, including inventory, demand, suppliers, sourcing or logistics.
  • Ability to identify patterns, anomalies, gaps and relationships within incomplete data.
  • Experience building models that allow assumptions, scenarios and sensitivities to be adjusted.
  • Confidence working directly with operational stakeholders to clarify requirements and challenge inconsistent information.
  • Ability to translate detailed analysis into clear findings and commercial recommendations.
  • Comfortable working independently within a fast-paced consultancy environment.

Required Skills

  • Experience in one or more of the following would be particularly valuable:
  • Manufacturing or engineering supply chains
  • Complex multi-site or global operations
  • Supply-chain network assessment or optimisation
  • Inventory and working-capital analysis
  • Procurement and supplier analysis
  • Demand planning and forecasting
  • Logistics and material flow
  • Bid, tender or commercial modelling
  • Cost, pricing or business-case modelling
  • Managed services, outsourcing, 3PL or 4PL environments
  • ERP data from systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics
  • VBA, macros, Power BI or SQL
