An established specialist contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead high-voltage substation and energy infrastructure projects from initiation through to successful handover. National Grid project delivery experience is essential for success in this role.

About the Company

Our client is a well-established engineering contractor specializing in the design, installation, and commissioning of high-voltage substation systems up to 400kV. Working with major transmission and distribution network operators, independent network providers, and renewable energy developers across the UK, the company delivers a range of projects including turnkey substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and large-scale renewable energy developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead HV substation and energy infrastructure projects from planning through to completion.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for National Grid project teams and key stakeholders.
  • Manage project budgets, programmes, risks, and subcontractor performance.
  • Ensure compliance with National Grid technical standards, CDM regulations, and health & safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering projects within a National Grid environment.
  • Strong track record managing large-scale transmission, distribution, or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and health & safety knowledge.
  • PMP and/or PRINCE2 qualifications are desirable.
