Change & Service Transition Manager – Contract – Inside IR35

  • 6 months rolling
  • Hybrid – 2 days a week in London office
  • £650 per day INSIDE IR35

In this framework, the Service Management team plays a pivotal role, ensuring the coordination, integration, and governance of multiple service providers. The team is accountable for delivering cohesive, seamless IT services to both the business and the wider energy industry. By implementing structured ITIL-based service management practices, the team ensures clear accountability, maintains service quality, and drives high performance across all service providers.

Job Purpose

The Change, Release & Service Transition Manager is responsible for managing and co-ordinating changes to the IT environment while ensuring the smooth release of new and updated services. Change, Release & Service Transition Manager continually refines the IT change process to ensure an optimal balance of governance and controls, tailored to risk levels, while supporting the required speed and agility required. In addition, this role is responsible for implementing and managing the Service Transition process, ensuring seamless service delivery and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Change Management Process: Accountable for the development and management of the Change Management process
  • Oversee reviews, approvals, and scheduling of all changes to minimise operational disruptions.
  • Chair Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, ensuring the inclusion of all relevant stakeholders for informed decision-making.
  • Ensure robust back-out plans and contingency strategies are in place for all changes.
  • Maintain a centralised change log to document all requested, approved, and implemented changes comprehensively.
  • Assess and mitigate risks by evaluating the potential impacts and benefits of changes.
  • Release Management Process: Accountable for the development and management of the Release Management Process ensuring smooth releases of new and updated services.
  • Develop and maintain a release calendar to prevent conflicts and ensure efficient delivery.
  • Coordinate and schedule releases with development, testing, and operations teams to align with business priorities.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the release pipeline to enhance delivery performance.
  • Service Transition Process: Accountable for the development and management of the Service Transition process, ensuring seamless service delivery and IT Operational readiness.
  • Ensure all necessary IT operational, technical, and business readiness criteria are met before transitioning services into production.
  • Define and enforce service acceptance criteria to ensure new or updated services meet agreed standards and requirements for acceptance into service
  • Oversee post-implementation reviews to evaluate the success of service transitions and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with stakeholders across IT, business and third-party vendors to ensure alignment, clear communication, and collaboration throughout the Change, Release, and Service Transition processes.
  • Reporting: Regular management information reports covering Change, Release and Service Transition including success rates, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Compliance and Governance: Responsible for enforcing adherence to ITIL standards and IT governance across Change, Release and Service Transition processes.
