We are partnering with a leading European energy organisation on a high-profile Short-Term Trading initiative. They are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with deep energy trading expertise to support enhancements across Intraday market access, congestion services, and balancing market access for B2B customers within the Dutch power market.
This is a senior, delivery-focused role reporting directly into the Project Manager, working closely with front office, operations, and IT stakeholders to translate complex trading requirements into robust, scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive stakeholder analysis and engagement planning
- Elicit high-level business needs and objectives through interviews, workshops, and document reviews
- Define, document, and validate business requirements and success criteria
- Analyse and model requirements using process flows, use cases, and data models
- Classify requirements across business, stakeholder, solution, and transition categories
- Prioritise requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives
- Maintain end-to-end traceability from requirements through to delivery
- Support solution design and development by clarifying and refining requirements
- Manage requirement changes, including impact analysis, documentation, and approvals
- Act as a key liaison between business, trading, and technical teams
- Support test case development and requirements-based testing activities
- 5–10+ years’ hands-on experience in energy trading, covering both physical delivery and front-office trading activities
- Strong knowledge of short-term power markets, including intraday trading and balancing mechanisms
- Deep understanding of ETRM platforms such as Endur or Allegro, and their role across the full trade lifecycle (deal capture through to settlement)
- Proven ability to operate with holistic, end-to-end thinking, bridging commercial, operational, and IT domains
- Highly analytical with a curious, questioning mindset, comfortable challenging assumptions to uncover root causes and true business needs
- Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and attention to detail
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, able to translate complex concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
The role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to Germany, so we are able to consider candidates based anywhere in Europe.
