Role Overview
Our banking client is seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to lead and support large-scale data migration initiatives to Microsoft Azure. The role involves defining cloud architecture strategy, ensuring secure and compliant migration of legacy banking systems, and driving cloud adoption across enterprise platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Azure architecture, enterprise data migration, and financial services environments with a solid understanding of regulatory and security frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and design end-to-end Azure cloud architecture for data migration programmes.
- Lead migration of on-premise banking applications and data platforms to Azure.
- Develop cloud strategy, roadmap, and governance frameworks aligned with banking compliance standards.
- Architect scalable, secure, and high-availability solutions on Azure.
- Design data migration patterns including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and modernization.
- Work closely with Data Architects, Security teams, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA, PRA guidelines where applicable).
- Implement cloud security best practices including IAM, encryption, key management, and network security.
- Provide technical leadership, design documentation, and architecture governance.
- Conduct architecture reviews and support risk assessments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Cloud Architect within banking or financial services.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
- Proven experience in enterprise-scale data migration to Azure.
- Strong knowledge of hybrid cloud environments.
- Understanding of regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements in banking.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience with DevOps practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code – Terraform/ARM/Bicep).
- Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes / AKS).
- Experience in cloud cost optimisation and FinOps practices.
- Knowledge of data governance and data lineage tools.
