Contract - 6 Months (Hybrid) On-call shifts required
We are looking for a highly skilled HCL Commerce Specialized Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. In this role, you will support the stability, scalability, and continuous enhancement of enterprise commerce platforms operating within consumer retail and digital-first environments.
You will play a key role in ensuring seamless customer journeys, supporting peak trading events, managing complex catalogues and order management systems, and driving platform modernization initiatives in cloud-based environments.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain HCL Commerce / IBM WebSphere Commerce components and extensions
- Build and enhance backend services using Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, and REST APIs
- Ensure applications meet performance, scalability, availability, and security standards
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across application, integration, and infrastructure layers
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term solutions
- Support SLA adherence and ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes
- Monitor logs, metrics, and system behaviour to proactively identify risks
- Manage HCL Commerce deployments within Azure environments
- Work with CI/CD tools and deployment pipelines including Jenkins, Git, and Docker
- Collaborate closely with DevOps teams for provisioning, releases, rollbacks, and platform improvements
- Strong hands-on experience with HCL Commerce / IBM WebSphere Commerce architecture
- Proficiency in Java, J2EE, GraphQL, and RESTful APIs
- Experience with Spring / Spring Boot backend development
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly Oracle
- Experience with tools such as Eclipse, RAD, Git, Splunk, Dynatrace, and New Relic
- Practical experience hosting commerce platforms on Azure
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of incidents and deliverables end-to-end
- Experience within Retail or eCommerce environments
- Knowledge of MongoDB and other NoSQL databases
- Experience working within Agile, Scrum, or Kanban delivery models
