6 SESSION SALARIED GP 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) to work at our practice 3 days a week, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
Start Date: Wednesday 10th June 2026
Main duties of the job:
- Salary £11,600 per session
- 4 Partners and 5 salaried GPs
- SystmOne clinical system
- Predictable working pattern, with some flexibility for holiday cover
- MPS Group Scheme option
- 6 Weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave, pro rata
- Red Whale access for CPD/ online training
- Some on call duties
- Member of the Upper Don Network
- Well maintained, modern premises with plenty of parking
- Weekly GP meeting, monthly clinical team meeting, plus other periodic MDT meetings
- Quarterly PPG meetings
- Medical Students from Sheffield Medical School
- Good links with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and BDGH
- Full support from Nurse teams, in-house FCP service, Social Prescribers, Mental Health Workers, Pharmacists, Reception & Administration teams
About us:
We are a friendly practice based on the outskirts of Sheffield. Whilst being situated in a beautiful quiet valley, we are still only 9 miles from Sheffield city centre and just a half hour drive away from the heart of Sheffield. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious GP to complement our experienced team!
Job responsibilities:
- The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
- The provision of services commensurate with the PMS contract
- Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
- Effective management of long-term conditions
- Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
- On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
- Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
- Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
- Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
- Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or QOF
- Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
- Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
- Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
- Prepare and complete the revalidation process
- Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
- Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
- Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditures
- Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times
- Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times
Person Specification:
- Qualified GP - completed training
- Previous GP experience
- SystmOne Experience
- Knowledge of Ardens software and templates
- On call GP experience
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check
