The predicted salary is between 800 - 1400 £ per month.

This rewarding career is a hands-on position in the workshop and requires competence in maths and a desire for a career in CNC machining. You will gain a wide and varied understanding of machining techniques using a range of CNC turning and milling machines to serve a wide range of sectors and industries. The successful candidate will learn a broad set of skills including but not limited to programming and setting CNC machines, appreciation of machining processes, mechanical design, interpreting technical drawings and programs with the aim being, by the end of the apprenticeship, that they are able to transform a metal casting into a valuable working machined part.

Main Duties

  • Learn how to program, set and operate CNC lathes and milling machines
  • Be shown how to read and understand technical drawings
  • Full training provided through our chosen training provider as well as in-company training
  • Complete all work to high company standards
  • Follow strict health and safety guidelines

Training to be provided

  • First year – Block release, off-the-job training based at the chosen training provider
  • Second year – Return to Valley Hydraulics and training to further develop skills learned in the first year whilst learning additional company-specific skills (attend one day per week at selected training provider)
  • Third and fourth year – Develop CNC specific skills further with the aim of completing the Level 3 Diploma in advanced manufacturing engineering

Requirements

  • Over 16 years of age
  • A minimum or expected grade 4 in GCSE Maths, English and Science
  • Keen interest in engineering
