This role will sit in the European Risk Advisory team at Validus, and will be responsible for:
- Client Delivery: Lead project-based engagements and manage retainer relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for >3 key clients.
- Risk Analysis: Conduct market risk assessments, stress testing, and VaR modelling to quantify and monitor client exposures across FX, interest rates, and other derivatives.
- Problem Solving: Respond to ad-hoc client queries with clear, actionable insights on hedging strategies and risk mitigation approaches.
- Technical Work: Build and maintain Excel-based models for risk analysis and scenario planning.
- Relationship Management: Lead client presentations, manage strategic communications, and identify opportunities for expanding our service offering.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior team members and oversee project delivery across multiple client engagements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our quantitative team and cross-functional colleagues to deliver integrated solutions.
Proactively identify challenges and opportunities, propose innovative solutions, and recommend process improvements to enhance client outcomes and internal efficiencies. Assist in sales processes to convert prospects to clients and cross-sell/upsell to existing clients. Keep up to date with academic, technical and industry developments. Adhere to Financial Conduct Authority Rules and Regulations and all internal policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Comprehensive professional experience, preferably within management consultancy, investment banking or Private Capital.
- Experience in market risk, derivatives, or treasury functions at banks (FX hedging teams, market risk solutions), funds, or consulting firms.
- Exposure to private capital markets or institutional client work.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of FX hedging, interest rate risk, and general hedging strategies. Experience with Value at Risk (VaR) modelling and market risk monitoring. Advanced Excel modelling capabilities. CFA or FRM (Financial Risk Manager) certification completed or in progress is highly valued. Relevant undergraduate degree. Post graduate qualification e.g., MBA, CFA, master’s in finance, FRM, AMCT/MCT, CIMA, CAIA, ACCA etc.

- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with an extremely high attention to detail and client-centric approach.
- Understanding of risk management in financial markets.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, exposure to Bloomberg.
- Time management/ability to perform under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
