Responsibilities
- Quotation Support: Review RFQ documentation and drawings provided by customers and assist with the preparation of costed quotations for electronic assemblies and cable assemblies, including costed bills of material and the identification of suitable alternative components for obsolete or long lead parts. This will include data input to the company ERP system.
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to resolve documentation and manufacturing issues within the Electronics Workshop and also to provide Technical Support for all relevant issues within the department and company.
- Inspection & Testing: Provide support to perform test, fault finding and inspection, to achieve the quality of manufacture required by customers, drawings and specifications (normally to Class 2 or 3 of IPC-610 or IPC-620).
- Workload Planning: Monitor levels of workload and report to the OME in advance of any possibilities that current tasks may require additional resources to be provided.
- Workplace Safety: Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines and provide guidance to Workshop staff. The ESE shall be mindful of risk at all times and immediately report safety risks to the OME so that preventative action can be undertaken.
- Maintenance & Housekeeping: The Production Engineer shall regularly review the operation of the Electronics Workshop and department as a whole, to monitor general housekeeping and equipment operability. This process shall identify planned and preventative maintenance and include monitoring test equipment calibration status.

Experience
- Proven experience (5+ years) in an Electronics support or build-to-print / Contract manufacturing environment, including alternative component selection β passive, active, interconnect, electro-mechanical.
- Familiar with the integration of PCBs, wiring, connectors and electro-mechanical components into mechanical assemblies.
- Identification and sourcing of alternative, equivalent parts; analysing data sheets to confirm form fit and function compatibility and supplier evaluation. An understanding of the issues related to component obsolescence.
- Practical, hands-on, problem-solving experience in the manufacturing environment.
Skills
- Understanding of Engineering drawings, with an ability to interpret circuit diagrams, wiring schedules and general assembly drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a meticulous approach to quality and documentation.
- Ability to carry out electrical inspection and point-to-point checks on cable assemblies and wiring harnesses in electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel, and able to produce documents, such as Work Instructions. Use of ERP system for entering Bills of Materials and checking inventory.
Qualifications
- HNC or HND higher in a relevant discipline, e.g. Electrical or Electronic engineering or extensive work experience.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to engage and build rapport with all internal teams (procurement, manufacturing), and also external suppliers and customers to resolve technical requirements and issues.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple opportunities/tasks concurrently, with a can-do attitude.
