The Occupational Health Professional at Pembroke Refinery attends to the occupational and medical concerns of Valero employees.
- Provides clinical emergency medical treatment for occupational injury or illness.
- Provides clinical emergency care for non-occupational injury or illness.
- Performs follow up care/treatment for occupational injury or illness.
- Obtains and maintains accurate and complete medical records on employees in line with GDPR requirements.
- Provides telephone support to employees who are absent from work.
- Manages the return to work process for Valero employees.
- Ensures the Medical Centre, medical equipment, and supplies are maintained and ready for use at all times.
- Coordinates Company Dr & On site Medical Professional visits.
- Administers immunisations.
- Performs case management of both work related and non-work related injuries and illnesses.
- Performs Audiometric & Spirometry testing.
- Performs Company health screening & health Surveillance.
- Coordinates drug and alcohol testing (post incident, random and with-cause).
- Administers company policy in regards to drug and alcohol testing.
- Maintains continuing education qualifications for Occupational Health professionals as required by relevant UK legislation.
- Maintains knowledge of specific legislation and regulations applicable in the UK, such as: Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) legislation; Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR) Regulations; General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
- Abides by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
- Provides thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
Qualifications - External
- Occupational Health Advisor status preferred.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health required.
- 3 years of post-registration clinical occupational nursing experience required.
- Current NMC registration required.
- Certified Audiometric Testing preferred.
- Spirometry training preferred.
- Venopuncture certification.
- Immunisation training & experience preferred.
- A&E Experience preferred.
- Mental Health training/experience preferred.
- Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
