Canary Wharf based (with occasional UK/IRE travel and on call rota). We are seeking an experienced Network & Communications Engineer to support and operate our UK and Ireland enterprise and OT (operational technology) network environments. This is a hands-on, London-based role where you’ll work with modern technologies, solve complex networking challenges, and collaborate closely with our UK and US based Infrastructure teams.
Most suitable candidates will have Cisco training and a proven track record in the following areas:
- Support Unified Communications (Cisco CUCM/CME, SIP) across the UK, Ireland and US.
- Own complex routing and switching environments (EIGRP, BGP, QoS, L2/L3).
- Design, install, operate and support enterprise WAN, LAN and Voice infrastructures.
- Lead troubleshooting, upgrades, cutovers and infrastructure improvements.
- Deliver secure network services including firewalls, VPNs and OT/Process Control security (FortiGate).
- Produce high-quality documentation, designs and diagrams (Visio).
- Manage data connectivity (MPLS, broadband, LTE) and WAN optimisation.
- Support Wi-Fi environments (Aruba & Cisco).
- Perform advanced packet and traffic analysis (NetScout, Wireshark).
- Automate and manage configurations using scripts, HP Network Automation, SolarWinds NCM.
- Provide excellent customer service and technical leadership across all levels of the business.
- Participate in an on-call Rota (24x7, approx. 3 weeks per year).
Requirements
- Extensive experience in enterprise network and communications engineering.
- Strong expertise across routing, switching, voice, security and wireless.
- Proven experience working on highly complex, business-critical systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- BSc/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field (preferred).
Additional requirements
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and Ireland.
- Valid passport and full UK driving licence – required.
- Flexibility to work off-hours/weekends for projects or incidents.
- Ability to meet site safety requirements.
- This role may require access to our Refinery where tight-fitting respiratory protective equipment may be required. Due to health and safety requirements, the successful candidate must be able to achieve a clean face-seal for such equipment.
