At Valeo Foods UK, we are looking for a Financial Accountant to ensure the consistent delivery of accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and support the overall financial management of the Valeo Foods UK business. This role will be to work at our Pontefract 2 days a week until summer where we move to a Leeds location.
The role will focus on delivery of financial governance, control, planning and analysis in the following key areas:
- Monthly Financial & Management Accounting (including group reporting)
- Tax Controls Processes, Procedures & Compliance and R&D Tax credit claim
- Management and maintenance of Fixed Asset Register
- Statutory Reporting – Yearly Reporting & Submission to Company House
- Liaising with external auditors and tax authorities
Key Accountabilities
- Management of the internal month end reporting file
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper accounting records are kept, including ensuring new account codes are set up.
- Completion of period-end review including monthly reporting packs for management reporting and posting period-end journals within VFUK businesses.
- Completion of monthly group reporting to Valeo Group and liaising directly with them as required.
- Complete reconciliation of One Stream month end numbers to internal numbers to ensure alignment.
- Completion of year-end reporting requirements for UK Entities & Valeo Group.
- Support preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and journals for internal controls
- Provide financial insights and analysis to management for decision-making.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business operations.
- Assist in ad-hoc financial projects as required.
- Maintenance of group fixed asset register and adherence to fixed asset accounting policies, including additions and disposals processes.
- Management and development of treasury & credit control teams of 8
- Preparation of corporation tax packs and liaising with Valeo Group Tax team on corporation tax computations and tax matters.
- Lead the preparation of R&D tax credit claims with external advisors/consultants
- Lead the preparation and submission of VAT, corporation tax, and other tax returns within statutory deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC/local tax regulations (including Customs Duty) and monitor changes in tax laws.
Qualifications
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification at this level) with 3-5 years PQE
- Experience in finance business partnering and management accounting roles, partnering with both finance and non-finance teams/stakeholders to provide insights and commentary.
- Experience working with ERP/accounting software (e.g., Sage, Oracle, IFS).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Food industry experience preferred but not essential
- Highly motivated self-starter, inspire positive energy and able to work to achieve clearly defined goals.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills, necessary to balance and constantly re-prioritise ad hoc projects and workload to tight deadlines.
- Good communicator and able to engage, challenge and drive the right behaviour at all levels in the business.
- High degree of systems literacy, to facilitate automation and simplification of management reporting.
- Highly analytical and inquisitive mind that can clearly identify problems and inefficiencies and search for a solution.
- Ability to manage varying workloads, being able to prioritise and communicate upwards to manage expectations
- Ability to manage multi-faceted and multi-functional engagements in a matrix organisation
