Valence Ltd provides specialist bid management, proposal development, and business growth support services to organisations across the public and private sectors. We work closely with our clients to develop high-quality, winning tender submissions, strategic proposals, framework applications, and supporting content that helps them secure new business opportunities. As our client portfolio continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Bid Writing Consultant to support the delivery of bid and proposal services on behalf of our clients.

The Bid Writing Consultant will work directly with Valence clients to develop compelling, compliant, and commercially strong tender submissions across a range of sectors including infrastructure, professional services, technology, engineering, construction, sustainability, and public sector services. This is a client-facing consultancy role requiring excellent communication skills, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to quickly understand different businesses, industries, and service offerings. You will be responsible for managing and writing bid responses, supporting bid strategies, and helping clients improve the quality and success rate of their submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality tender responses, proposals, SQs, PQQs, ITTs, RFQs, and framework applications on behalf of clients.
  • Review tender documentation and identify compliance requirements, evaluation criteria, and submission deliverables.
  • Work directly with clients to gather technical, operational, and commercial information.
  • Develop persuasive, client-focused responses tailored to specific opportunities.
  • Support bid strategy development including win themes, differentiators, and value propositions.
  • Edit, proofread, and improve existing client bid content.
  • Ensure all submissions are professionally presented, compliant, and submitted within deadlines.
  • Support clarification responses, presentation materials, and interview preparation where required.

Client Consultancy

  • Build strong working relationships with clients across multiple sectors.
  • Provide guidance and advice on bid best practice and procurement processes.
  • Help clients improve bid libraries, case studies, and reusable content.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of client bid processes and documentation.

Content Development

  • Develop supporting content including capability statements, executive summaries, CVs, and organisational profiles.
  • Translate technical information into clear, compelling, and accessible language.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in bid writing, proposal writing, or bid consultancy.
  • Strong understanding of UK public sector procurement and tendering processes.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to write persuasively and tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines and bid submissions simultaneously.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand different industries and service offerings.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Adobe Suite / InDesign skills (must be able to create and modify proposal documents and materials).
  • Experience working within consultancy or outsourced bid support environments.
  • APMP accreditation or equivalent experience.
  • Experience across sectors such as construction, engineering, technology, professional services, infrastructure, or public sector.
  • Knowledge of procurement frameworks including CCS and local authority frameworks.
  • Experience with bid management software and procurement portals.
