Valemark is a modern members' society: a club built around people, not premises.
Every Thursday we seat strangers seeking belonging in restaurants across London: strangers chosen to fit, seated on purpose. Around Tables sits the rest of the club: member events through the season, communities we call Clubs, and a members' marketplace. We are a small, funded team building the club London wishes existed, and Tables is its front door.
The role involves making dinners happen and scaling that effort significantly. Internally, the founders refer to this job as "the Secretary's hands": the person whose taste picks the rooms, whose judgement seats the tables, whose messages carry the club's voice, and whose run sheets ensure everything looks effortless. This role requires both craft and scale.
You will own:
- The rooms: Finding and booking restaurants that look, feel, and sound right for our members.
- The composition: Carefully reading applications, composing each table, and balancing decades, energies, and intents.
- The operations: Managing confirmations, dietaries, place cards, logistics, and handling unexpected situations.
- The members: Building customer service that scales while maintaining warmth and personal touch.
- The patterns: Noticing trends and using AI to improve the dining experience.
- The events: Supporting member-hosted occasions and larger club events.
A typical week includes confirming rooms, managing cancellations, finalising lists, greeting guests, and automating processes to improve efficiency.
You probably have experience running dinners or events where the focus is on interpersonal connections. You type fast, write warmly, and stay calm under pressure. You have a keen eye for detail and are proactive in improving processes.
Pay and location: London, full time, on site. £40,000 to £50,000, with potential equity based on performance.
How to apply: No CV screening or cover letter required. Email luke@valemark.com for an assessment that simulates the job.
