Vale View Primary School has a vacancy for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in our Early Years Foundation Stage. We are looking for a highly effective and enthusiastic person who will work with our Reception teachers to provide teaching and learning support across the whole cohort and work with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a primary school and delivering teaching and learning to children with a range of special educational needs, covering classes, and hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification and GCSE English and maths (or equivalent). You will work with our caring and dedicated team to support children’s learning and social development by providing high quality learning opportunities and care. Knowledge of and a willingness to use Makaton in daily teaching is advantageous.
Qualifications and Experience- Experience of working in a primary school, delivering teaching and learning to children with a range of special educational needs, covering classes.
- Holding a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification and GCSE English and maths (or equivalent).
- Good working knowledge of the Early Years Framework and the National Curriculum.
- Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and experience supporting children with a range of special educational needs.
- Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Excellent behaviour management skills and ability to establish positive adult-pupil relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in partnership with parents, staff and outside agencies.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding.
- Committed, motivated, and enthusiastic, and able to enjoy working as part of a team and be flexible.
- Knowledge of or willingness to use Makaton in teaching is advantageous.
