This is an exciting role within the Building Control team where you can expect a supportive environment, to progress your qualifications and gain valuable experience within a local authority.

About the role

The Registration Officer role involves undertaking the technical administrative duties for the support of the building control service, ensuring that duties are carried out in accordance with the Council's statutory duty relating to the application and enforcement of the Building Regulations 2010. The role involves a blend of administrative tasks, problem solving, customer interaction, managing an application process, collaborating with Registered Building Inspectors, consulting with internal and external bodies, while driving customer satisfaction.,

  • The evaluation, interpretation and measuring of plans for fee assessment.
  • Producing documentation, letters and emails.
  • Raising consultations with internal and external bodies.
  • Responding to minor technical enquiries in relation to The Building Regulations 2010 and The Building Act 1984 to applicants, clients, agents, members and all stakeholders. This includes matters relating to whether Building Regulations are required and exemptions etc.
  • Raising purchase orders, invoices and receiving credit/debit card payments for the collection of Building Regulation charges.
  • Arranging site visits and booking appointments.
  • Responding to formal enquiries relating to land searches, Building Regulation records and associated matters.
  • Promotion and to encourage the engagement of the Local Authority building control service, including, business partners.
  • Promote and exercise a high level of customer service and satisfaction. Good general admin/office experience (at least two years)
  • Proficient in use of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience of working to service standards and targets
  • Financial experience of dealing with purchase/sales orders, accounts,
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative for implementing improvements and for making decisions
  • Strong numeracy skills
