About Us
he Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods team is a newly established team to provide administrative support to the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods Board. The Board is responsible for developing a Regeneration Plan, and for delivering the strategic objectives of the programme in partnership with the local authority.
The Council is the accountable body responsible for due diligence of the funding, grant payment agreements and financial reporting, as well as facilitating the Board and carrying out the Regeneration Plan. The Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods team sits within the Council’s Place Directorate and there will be opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in the Creative Communities team, in Economic Development and Project Management Unit, as well as more widely across the Council.
(Background information about PfN: In October 2023 the UK Government announced that Barry was to benefit from up to £2m of investment per year for the next ten years. The funding programme – Plan for Neighbourhoods – aims to tackle deprivation and close the inequality gap through work streams within these three themes:

About The Role
This role is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the lives of residents and business owners in Barry.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Regeneration Officer to assist in the delivery of the Plan for Neighbourhoods programme. You will support the Programme Development Officer in facilitating the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods Board and support the delivery of some of the projects in the Regeneration Plan to improve the health & well-being, educational, economic and social outcomes for communities in Barry. This will involve working closely with the local community, local businesses and organisations and third sector organisations, as well as internal Council departments.
You will also support the monitoring and evaluation of projects, research funding opportunities and provide any other relevant support such as researching case studies, arranging training and creating reports.
About You
You will be keen to develop your knowledge and experience of community development, community led regeneration and co-production methodology. You will relish being part of a team and gaining a wide range of experience, from community engagement and working with steering groups, to managing project budgets and producing project reports. You will be self-motivated and organised, with the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
