About Us
The Housing Solutions Service is part of the Housing Solutions Team. This role supports the team to maximise the private rented sector, increase housing options for people who are homeless or at risk, and manage the Council’s temporary accommodation stock.

About The Role
Pay: Grade 5 SCP 8 – 12. £26,824 to £28,598 per annum, pro rata. Hours: 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday. Main Place: Civic Office, Barry and other locations, hybrid working.
Responsibilities
- Enhance positive relationships with private landlords and letting agents to maintain and increase supply of private rented housing available to the Council.
- Maintain a register of suitable temporary accommodation available to the Council for emergency housing.
- Support customers with financial difficulties and liaise with statutory, non-statutory and voluntary agencies.
Qualifications
- Experience working in housing in the voluntary, statutory or private sector.
- Experience of letting or managing tenancies in the private rented or social housing sector.
- Knowledge of homelessness legislation, landlord and tenant law, private rented sector, especially Assured Shorthold Tenancies.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits system and role and responsibilities of a social landlord.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Experience supporting customers with financial difficulties.
