Responsibilities:
- Investigate complaints about poor accommodation standards and carry out housing inspections.
- Draw up schedules of work and serve legal notices, ensuring compliance visits are completed.
- Carry out licensing inspections for houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) and enforce HMO licensing requirements.
- Liaise with tenants, neighbours, landlords, and contractors to ensure property standards are upheld.
- Address statutory nuisance, filthy and verminous premises, and problem empty properties.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in the inspection of commercial and domestic premises for regulatory compliance.
- Educated to A Level standard / NVQ3 or equivalent (suitable for an Environmental Health Professional or Housing Surveyor).
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload and perform well under pressure.
- Ability to drive and travel throughout Bridgend, Cardiff, Vale or between locations if appropriate.
- Able to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends, both planned and in emergency situations.
- Strong communication skills with complainants, tenants, landlords, and contractors.
