The Vale Community Resource Service is an integrated health, social care and third sector team, working in collaboration with other services across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. We work with people in their own homes within the Vale locality, to maximise functional independence in activities of daily living, thus reducing the needs for admission into hospital and longer term care services. We also offer therapeutic intervention and reablement support to people following an admission into hospital, ensuring a seamless and timely transfer. We aim to provide person-centred care and therapeutic intervention, working collaboratively with individuals towards achieving jointly identified goals.

The team includes Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians, Nurses, Care Coordinating staff and Reablement Support Workers.

About the role

  • Pay Details: Grade 8 (£37,280- £40,777 per annum)
  • Hours of Work / Working Pattern: This is a permanent, full-time role requiring flexibility across 5 days, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Main Place of Work: Barry Hospital, with community-based working across the Vale of Glamorgan.

The Vale Community Resource Service (VCRS) supports people in their own homes within the Vale locality to maximise functional independence in daily living, reducing the need for hospital admission and long-term care. Following hospital discharge, we provide therapeutic intervention and reablement support, ensuring a seamless and timely transfer. Our approach is person-centred, working with individuals to achieve jointly identified goals.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist who is keen to develop their skills within a supportive community team. You will have:

  • HCPC registration (or pending registration) and a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification
  • Post‑qualification experience (previous community or hospital experience desirable but not essential)
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A positive, flexible approach with a commitment to enabling people to maintain independence at home
  • A full driving licence and the ability to travel across the Vale of Glamorgan
