The Vale of Glamorgan is welcoming applications within its Flying Start Programme. Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded programme and is available in targeted areas supporting all families to give 0-3-year olds a Flying Start in life. The programme aims to provide intensive support services for children and their families. The focus of the programme is on promoting language, cognitive, social and emotional skills, physical development and the early identification of high needs. This is achieved through the delivery of health support and guidance, parenting groups and support and free part time childcare.

About The Role
- Pay Details: Grade 6 SCP 14-19 £28,624 - £31,067
- Hours of Work / Working Pattern: Monday to Friday – 37 hours per week
- Main Place of Work: Flying Start Barry
- Temporary Reason: Welsh Government funding until 31.3.2028
Description:
- To coordinate the transition process from childcare into school, ensuring that a consistent, clear and supportive process is in place and accessed by all children who have received Flying Start/ 2-year-old childcare offer.
- To develop strong relationships with external childcare providers to ensure consistency of transition, including implementing purposeful transition documents and undertaking school visits.
- To embed transition planning throughout the child’s journey in childcare, making transition a proactive planned process that is flexible to meet the needs of every child.
- To monitor and review attendance within childcare, keeping up to date statistical information.
- To lead the development of and coordination of the Welsh Offer of childcare to families and children across the Vale, making sure knowledge of Welsh childcare is established, celebrated and accessible.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and reflective practice to develop your skills and knowledge.
About You
You will need:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience of working in the Early Years and Childcare Sector
- Experience of working successfully with others: Parents, colleagues and partner agencies
- Experience of working with the under 4’s
- Experience of working in collaboration with educational establishments.
- Experience of working in a multi‑agency team
- Effective organisation, with ability to plan work, prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
- Qualified to level 5 in either Childcare, Social Care or Education or a relevant subject area to the role.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development relevant to the role
- Positive attitude and professional approach
- Ability to travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
- Must be able to communicate fluently and confidently through the medium of Welsh.
