How You Will Energise Our Team
This is a newly created role at Valda Energy, offering fantastic exposure to a range of unique and exciting areas across the business. Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Finance, the position will play a key role in driving forecasting, financial planning and performance analysis activities, with the opportunity to help shape and influence the wider planning strategy of the organisation. The role will take ownership of producing high‑quality management information and insight for the executive team, delivering meaningful analysis on business performance, trends and key financial drivers to support strategic decision‑making and forward‑looking financial projections.
The day‑to‑day responsibilities will involve:
- Lead the company‑wide annual budgeting cycle, periodic reforecasting and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
- Provide clear visibility of key assumptions, risks and opportunities across forecasts and budgets to support informed decision‑making across the business.
- Review, develop and enhance financial performance reporting, board packs, variance analysis, dashboards and KPIs to provide meaningful strategic insight and performance visibility.
- Own the development and continuous improvement of short‑ and long‑term financial models, including cash flow, working capital, scenario planning and profitability analysis.
- Analysis of monthly management accounts and financial information for presentation to executive team, identifying trends, risks, opportunities and performance drivers to support revenue growth and profitability.
- Support decision making by providing stakeholders with meaningful insights on business performance.
- Work alongside the SLT and Exec teams to ensure analysis and insight is available to enable informed decisions around strategic planning and performance.
- Support strategic projects, investment appraisals and business cases through robust financial modelling and scenario analysis.
The Spark We're Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with strong experience in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
- Experience using FP&A and financial planning tools such as Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, Power BI, ERP systems and ideally Microsoft Business Central or similar accounting platforms.
- Proven ability to deliver meaningful financial insight and performance analysis to senior leadership teams.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational data and translate it into clear, actionable insight.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships and explain complex information in a straightforward and engaging manner.
- Highly organised and detail‑oriented, with a proactive, collaborative approach and experience improving financial reporting processes, systems and automation capabilities.
