We're looking for a Senior Databricks Solutions Architect to join our growing team and play a key role in shaping enterprise-scale data platforms and driving successful Databricks adoption for our clients. This role combines hands‑on technical delivery, architecture leadership and trusted advisory responsibilities.

This is not a PowerPoint architect role. We're looking for someone who enjoys getting hands‑on with technology, solving complex engineering challenges and helping clients realise value from modern data platforms.

You will work closely with client stakeholders, engineers and delivery teams to design, build and optimise scalable cloud‑based data solutions, whilst helping shape best practices across Data & AI engagements.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing and delivering modern Databricks‑based data platforms.
  • Building and optimising Apache Spark and PySpark solutions.
  • Developing batch and streaming data pipelines.
  • Implementing Delta Live Tables, Databricks Workflows and Unity Catalog.
  • Advising clients on architecture, governance and platform best practices.
  • Supporting infrastructure automation through Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Leading technical discussions and providing architectural guidance.
  • Mentoring engineers and contributing to capability growth within Valcon.
  • Helping clients modernise and scale their data and analytics environments.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong experience with Databricks in enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in Apache Spark, PySpark and SQL.
  • Experience designing and implementing modern data architectures.
  • Knowledge of data engineering best practices and platform optimisation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and consulting skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and navigate ambiguity.
  • Structured Streaming and real‑time data processing.
  • Unity Catalog, Delta Lake and Delta Live Tables.
  • Databricks Workflows and orchestration tools.
  • Financial Services, Trading, Energy or other data‑intensive industries.
  • Experience leading technical teams or architecture workstreams.
