A growing, Chartered Accountancy practice based in South Liverpool, is looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Bureau Administrator. The firm supports a broad mix of SME clients, from very small businesses to a number of larger employers. Offering more than just compliance – they provide commercial advice, outsourced finance and tax planning.
Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will be joining a business that is investing in new payroll software (BrightPay) and bringing payroll fully in-house, so there’s plenty of opportunity to shape how things are done. This role is ideal for someone with at least 5 years’ payroll experience, is comfortable with busy month-end periods, and has strong attention to detail. You’ll be the go-to person for all payroll matters, covering weekly, monthly and bi-monthly runs, auto-enrolment, and associated administration tasks.
Key responsibilities:
- End-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls for c.80 clients, including some larger payrolls of 100 employees
- Set-up and maintenance of new payrolls and employee records within BrightPay (and legacy systems during transition)
- Building relationships with clients
- Managing auto-enrolment processes: pension set-up, assessments, uploads and ongoing compliance
- Preparing and submitting RTI returns, year-end processing and statutory forms (P45, P60, etc.)
- Handling payroll queries from clients and employees (tax codes, deductions, statutory payments, holiday pay)
- Ensuring compliance with current payroll legislation and upcoming changes (including P11D changes this year)
- Liaising with HMRC and pension providers as required
- Finance/admin support as needed (e.g. basic bank statement checks for payroll, maintaining client data, Companies House confirmations)
Benefits:
This is a stable, long-term position where you can genuinely own the payroll function. Benefits include a friendly, close-knit team, free parking and flexible working arrangements (full time and part-time are both considered as this is a newly created role).
Essential Requirements:
- 5 years + experience in bureau or complex, multi-site payroll
- Brightpay would be advantageous, but not essential
