A growing Chartered Accountancy practice based in South Liverpool is looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Bureau Administrator. The firm supports a broad mix of SME clients, from very small businesses to larger employers, offering commercial advice, outsourced finance and tax planning.

Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will join a business that is investing in new payroll software (BrightPay) and bringing payroll fully in‐house, giving you the opportunity to shape how things are done.

Key Responsibilities
  • End‐to‐end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls for approximately 80 clients, including some larger payrolls of 100 employees.
  • Set‐up and maintenance of new payrolls and employee records within BrightPay (and legacy systems during transition).
  • Build relationships with clients.
  • Manage auto‐enrolment processes: pension set‐up, assessments, uploads and ongoing compliance.
  • Prepare and submit RTI returns, year‐end processing and statutory forms (P45, P60, etc.).
  • Handle payroll queries from clients and employees (tax codes, deductions, statutory payments, holiday pay).
  • Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation and upcoming changes (including P11D changes this year).
  • Liaise with HMRC and pension providers as required.
  • Provide finance/admin support as needed (e.g., basic bank statement checks for payroll, maintaining client data, Companies House confirmations).
