We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our Global Services Team at Vaisala in Aberdeen, UK. In this role you will help keep the transport network safe by ensuring reliable weather data is provided to support safety-critical decisions.

What’s your role? We are looking for a Field Service Engineer based in Scotland to work with our other Scottish-based engineers to keep the network in great shape. This role includes travel and occasional overnight stays with the flexibility to plan and maintain your own schedule. You will be part of our Global Services Team, a skilled group of professionals, helping to install and maintain the 1400+ UK-wide network of ground transportation weather stations. The information generated from this network allows road, rail and runway authorities to make safety-critical decisions to keep their transport networks flowing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Reactive Maintenance to resolve faults on the weather stations within set response times.
  • Attend each allocated weather station for a scheduled service visit to ensure excellent operation of the site.
  • Project manage and undertake installation of new or upgrade of existing Weather stations.
  • Requires liaison with Customers and Sub-Contractors with whom excellent working relationships will be developed and maintained.
  • Complete all associated administration including Risk Assessments and Method Statements in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure all individual Health and Safety training and certificates are maintained.
  • Provide “Expert” level Technical Support on the Vaisala Weather Station hardware.
  • Work closely with and provide sales support to Regional Account Managers.
  • Ensure all operations comply with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems and Vaisala procedures.

What will you bring?

  • Previous experience of environmental monitoring sensors/systems or similar instrumentation would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience working within a road, rail or airport environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong health and safety awareness and the capability to work in inclement weather and at height.
  • Excellent customer focus and service attitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and fix problems in a logical manner.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple jobs.
  • Good project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, ensuring weather station uptimes in your region are within KPI’s.
  • Attention to detail with administrative tasks.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Ideally located within Scottish Central Belt or Inverness region. Other locations considered.
