Job Summary: The Supervisor of Snow Surfaces is responsible for oversight of all operations within the Grooming, Snowmaking, and Terrain Park departments. This includes budget oversight, safety training and compliance, and departmental training, scheduling and staffing for all three departments.
Job Specifications:- Starting Wage: $25.00/hr - $36.24/hr

- Attends any/all mountain operations meetings and Resort Leadership Team meetings for a better understanding of the bigger picture in order to prioritize department needs.
- Successfully recruit, hire, coach, motivate and develop high performing teams within Snowmaking, Grooming, and Terrain Parks.
- Ensure leadership team and employees are aligned with Vail Resorts goals, values and core competencies.
- Develop leaders within the scope of this position’s responsibility to improve leadership within current roles and prepare them for increased responsibility.
- Be a leader in the effort to improve safety within mountain operations with the goal of reducing/eliminating worker and guest injury.
- This includes following and leading by example with our safety strategies, policies and procedures, and current Best Practices.
- Become an active and contributing member of the Snowmaking, Grooming, and Terrain Park Best Practices groups.
- Prioritize and adapt in a constantly changing business and environmental setting.
- Create and oversee departmental budgets while tracking performance to expectations.

- Build strong, positive relationships with key managers outside the scope of direct reports.
- Increase operational efficiency and effectiveness through ongoing communication and cooperation with mountain operations departments.
- Ensure company and employee communications are provided.
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
- Previous Snowmaking, Grooming, or Terrain Park experience, minimum of 3 years.
- Minimum of 2 years managing staff at supervisory capacity.
- Valid Driver’s License without restrictions.
- Skilled with standard business software including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, etc.).
- Must be able to fluently read, write and understand English.
- Availability to work holidays, weekends, evenings, & overnights.
- College degree.
- Welding certifications.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Diesel engine diagnosis & repair experience.
- Ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate/advanced level.
The expected pay range is $25.00/hr - $36.24/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
