We're looking for a hands-on Data Architect to join a growing organisation embarking on a major transformation of its data landscape. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the design and development of a brand-new Azure-based data platform, helping shape the future of data across the business. You'll be the senior data professional within a small but growing team, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation whilst remaining technically involved in the delivery of the platform. The role would suit someone who enjoys operating in an environment where they can influence strategy, bring new ideas to the table, and play a key role in defining how data is used across the business.

The Role

  • You'll be responsible for designing and developing a modern data architecture using Azure and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, and capable of supporting future business growth.
  • As the senior member of the team, you'll work closely with a Junior Data Engineer, providing technical guidance and helping establish best practices across the function.
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Designing and developing a new Azure-based data platform
    • Defining and implementing the overall data architecture strategy
    • Building and enhancing a modern data warehouse using Microsoft Fabric
    • Remaining hands-on with data engineering and platform development
    • Establishing data standards, governance, and best practices
    • Acting as the primary data contact for business stakeholders
    • Gathering requirements and translating business needs into technical solutions
    • Supporting and mentoring a Junior Data Engineer
    • Driving continuous improvement and bringing new ideas into the data function
