Role Overview
You will take full ownership of major projects across Greater London, leading pre‑construction through to handover. You’ll be accountable for programme, budget, design, procurement strategy, risk, and stakeholder management, driving teams to deliver safely, profitably, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Full accountability for delivery from pre‑construction, mobilisation, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Lead design management: consultant performance, design release, buildability, compliance, and change control.
- Own programme strategy: baselines, critical path management, progress governance, and recovery planning.
- Lead commercial and procurement strategy with the commercial team: packaging, tender reviews, appointments, and budget control.
- Act as senior client interface and manage key stakeholders (including local authorities and third parties).
- Build and lead high‑performing teams across site management, engineering, planning, and supply chain.
- Drive governance and reporting with strong, audit‑ready project records.
- Own risk management: risk register, mitigations, early warnings, and contingency control.
- Lead H&S compliance and culture in line with the company H&S management system and statutory obligations.
- Deliver quality outcomes and a defect‑minimised handover through robust QA and commissioning control.
Essential Experience / Skills
- Strong main contractor background delivering £20m+ projects (or high complexity / multi‑phase).
- Commercially strong: cost control, change management, procurement strategy, and margin awareness.
- Proven leadership across multi‑discipline teams and subcontractors.
- Excellent client‑facing communication and decision‑making under pressure.
Desirable
- Degree/HND (Construction/Engineering/Commercial) or equivalent experience.
- Chartership (MCIOB / RICS / ICE) advantageous.
- SMSTS / First Aid / CSCS (as applicable).
