Description

We are recruiting a Legionella Technician to join our water hygiene team, working primarily on our contract with Lincolnshire Hospital Trust. This role is open to applicants at any stage of their career — whether you are completely new to water hygiene and looking to learn a trade from scratch, or you already have some relevant experience. No prior legionella or water hygiene knowledge is required: full training will be given, and we will support the right candidate every step of the way.

The role involves carrying out water system inspections, temperature monitoring, and remedial tasks across Lincolnshire Hospital Trust sites, in line with L8 (ACOP), HSG274, and HTM04-01 guidance. Healthcare settings carry additional compliance and infection-control considerations, and full guidance on working within an NHS Trust environment will be provided as part of training. Appropriate PPE, DBS check, and any NHS/Trust site-access training or clearance required will be provided or arranged by the company.

About the role

As a Legionella Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out temperature monitoring of hot and cold water systems
• Flushing little-used water outlets
• Cleaning and disinfecting shower heads
• Conducting water storage tank and calorifier inspections
• Collecting water samples for laboratory analysis
• Performing Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) inspections and testing
• Identifying and reporting any compliance issues or system irregularities
• Completing service records, reports and site logbooks accurately
• Planning and managing your daily site visits across Lincolnshire
• Working safely and professionally within NHS healthcare environments
• Building your knowledge of water hygiene regulations and industry best practice through ongoing training

What you will bring

No prior experience in legionella control or water hygiene is required — we are looking for the right person, not a specific CV. The criteria below apply equally whether you're starting from scratch or bring existing experience to the role.

• Experience within water hygiene, plumbing, facilities management or another trade environment
• Understanding of health and safety practices
• Previous legionella or water hygiene training
• Experience working within healthcare, NHS or highly regulated environments
• Full, clean UK driving licence
• Willing and able to travel daily between sites across Lincolnshire
• Good basic written communication skills, able to record clear, accurate readings and notes
• Existing knowledge of health and safety principles or site-based work
