VACGEN is a leading manufacturer of ultra-high vacuum (UHV) technology, supplying innovative solutions to customers across scientific research, industrial applications and advanced technology sectors worldwide.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Manufacturing Team Leader to join our Production team at our Lower Dicker site.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for ensuring that quality, delivery and production targets are achieved while driving continuous improvement across the manufacturing cell.

As our Manufacturing Team Leader, you will be responsible for
- Lead and support the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing cell to ensure quality, delivery and cost targets are achieved.
- Motivate, coach and develop team members to maximise performance and engagement.
- Manage attendance, performance, training and skill development across the team.
- Work closely with Planning to understand production priorities and ensure schedules are achieved.
- Monitor production activities, proactively resolving issues to ensure components are manufactured right first time.
- Ensure materials, tooling, programmes and documentation are available and prepared ahead of production.
- Maintain full material and product traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
- Attend daily operations meetings and provide updates on production performance and priorities.
- Support KPI achievement across quality, delivery and cost measures.
- Drive continuous improvement activities, including Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and problem-solving initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with quality procedures, manufacturing standards and company policies.
- Maintain visual management systems and promote a safe, organised and efficient working environment.
Proven experience within a manufacturing, engineering or production environment.
- Previous experience managing or supervising a manufacturing team.
- Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication and production operations.
- Experience of planning workloads, prioritising activities and delivering against deadlines.
- Computer literate and comfortable working with production and performance data.
Experience within a low-volume, high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and 5S methodologies.
- Experience leading improvement projects and driving operational efficiencies.
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- ILM Level 3 (or above) in Leadership and Management.
