Quality Engineer – Location: Hailsham, BN27 4EL. Salary: Competitive, DOE + Excellent Benefits. Contract: Full time, Permanent. Hours: 37 hours Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
- Assist in continuous improvement activities including non-conformances and supplier development.
- Ensure a consistent and detailed approach using Root Cause Analysis and problem solving tools such as 8D or 5Whys.
- Understand client requirements and industry best practices to help develop a strategy for improving the quality of all products.
- Lead and coordinate root cause analysis of quality issues related to manufactured products, purchased parts, and customer complaints.
- Support the administration of internal quality processes (NCR, ECN, CAR) to ensure containment, corrective action, root cause identification, and resolution of issues.
- Assist with supplier selection through robust qualification processes, including aligning process capabilities and ensuring robust Quality Assurance practices.
Qualifications
- Five years' experience in a similar manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality and process management tools and methodology (5S/6S, flowcharts, VSM, Kaizen, Pareto, QCPC, 8D, Cause & Effect, Ishikawa, 5 whys).
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering.
- Qualified to ONC / HNC level in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing or a relevant quality professional qualification.
- Experience with continuous improvement tools and techniques.
- Structured, organized approach to work with a detailed problem-solving mindset.
Desirable
- Experience using CMM or Faro Arm devices and a range of metrology equipment typical in machine shop environments.
- Supplier selection and development experience.
- Previous experience in vacuum science is advantageous.
- Travel and Working Conditions
This role involves travel to supplier sites.
Most work will be based at your usual location, but you may be required to attend supplier meetings, site visits, or events.
Travel will be planned in advance wherever possible, and all reasonable expenses will be covered.
