Reports to: Head of Content Intelligence

The Opportunity

Vable is building a new business intelligence layer – companies, deals, industries, people – that will sit alongside our existing legal intelligence product and open up a new market for us. This role owns the build. You will work the data hands-on using new tools we are developing, solve real problems for real clients, and grow into managing a small team as the product proves itself. If you are looking for a role where the work is visible, the impact is measurable, and there is genuine room to grow – this is it.

About Vable

Vable is a legal content intelligence platform used by law firms and professional services organisations across the UK and internationally. We help lawyers, BD and marketing teams stay on top of the information that matters – cases, legislation, company activity, deals, regulatory developments – by monitoring, classifying, and surfacing content that is relevant, reliable, and timely. We are a small, focused team. The problems are real, the clients are demanding in the best way, and the work you do here is not buried in a large organisation – it shows up directly in the product.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain the product:
  • Take ownership of Vable's business intelligence data – the companies, deals, industries, and people that our clients use for BD, marketing, and client development.
  • Work hands-on with our data management tools to curate, classify, and improve the dataset day to day.
  • Identify gaps in coverage and quality, diagnose the root causes, and work with the product and engineering teams to fix them.
  • Maintain and improve our source and publisher database – ensuring everything is correctly categorised and up to date.
  • Use AI tools pragmatically to find better, faster ways of working – evaluate what works, refine what doesn’t.
  • Understand and serve clients:
  • Develop a clear understanding of how lawyers, BD teams, and marketing professionals in law firms use business intelligence – what they need, what frustrates them, and what would make Vable indispensable.
  • Feed that understanding back into how we prioritise and improve the product.
  • Where relevant, engage directly with clients to validate what we are building.
  • Work with the broader team:
  • Work closely with the Head of Content Intelligence and Head of Product on product direction and priorities – your domain knowledge and hands-on experience of the data will directly inform roadmap decisions.
  • Work with the PM responsible for content intake on ensuring we are monitoring the right sources.
  • Contribute a view on the competitive landscape – the tools your future users currently use and where Vable can win.
  • Build the function over time:
  • In the early stage this is largely a solo role – you will be doing the work yourself.
  • As the product proves itself you will bring in support, starting with a legal intelligence specialist, and grow into managing a small team.

What We Are Looking For

Essential

  • 3-6 years experience in or around law firms or professional services – in a BD, marketing, research, operations, or data role.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools – Mergermarket, Refinitiv, DealCloud, Bureau van Dijk, or similar – and a clear understanding of the data and how it is used.
  • Strong problem-solving instinct – you spot issues, figure out an approach, and get on with it.
  • Comfortable working with new tools and technologies – you pick things up quickly and find practical applications.
  • Clear communicator – able to talk to lawyers, BD professionals, and product and engineering teams.
  • Self-starter – you do not need a complete brief to make progress.
  • The right to live and work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Experience working with or alongside product or technology teams.
  • Hands-on experience working with data – interrogating it, cleaning it, or maintaining it.
  • Familiarity with AI tools in a practical, hands-on context.
  • Some exposure to legal intelligence – cases, legislation, legal sectors – in addition to business intelligence.

What This Is Not

  • A senior strategy role. You will be doing the work yourself in the early stage – that is not a stepping stone, it is how you build something properly.
  • A role with a fully resourced team from day one. You will start largely solo and grow the team as the product proves itself.
  • A role for someone who needs certainty and a detailed playbook. The early stage requires initiative and comfort with ambiguity.

What You Will Get

  • Real ownership of a new product area – this is not a feature on someone else's roadmap.
  • A direct line to the Head of CI and genuine influence over what gets built and how.
  • Room to grow – from hands-on builder to a lead managing a small team as the product matures.
  • Work that is visible – in a small team, what you do shows up directly in the product and in client outcomes.
  • A technically interesting problem at the intersection of structured data, AI-assisted curation, and legal professional services.
  • Fully remote working (UK).
  • Salary £55,000 – £60,000 depending on experience.
