*MANAGER: TECHNICAL SUPPORT* JOB PURPOSE: Working within the Test & Validation / Customer Support department to manage technical personnel in the validation and support of VA Tech systems. *Reporting to Director: Manufacturing & Customer Support* DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Management • Technical management and planning of installations and service contracts • Attend customer and business reviews and meetings • Review of technician’s post customer visits, providing feedback to Operations teams • Management of technician Health and Safety requirements. • Develop monthly Business Operations Review (BOR) presentation • Recruitment of personnel per department budget. • Management of individuals’ performance. Conduct disciplinary measures as necessary. Team Development • In-house training and development of junior Test & Validation, Manufacturing, and Field Service technicians. Customer Support • Remote customer support – fault finding and diagnostics • Onsite investigations and rectification. • Development of customer training programs Technical • Development of following: • Robot program • PLC software • Fieldbus protocols • Commissioning of VA systems and equipment, including: • System software commissioning • System fault finding and diagnostics • Fault rectification • Conducting system wide Test and Inspection • Set-up of in-house system software and industrial PC’s • Conduct customer training • Writing technical procedures, plans and training modules. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: • Hands on approach to problem solving • Experience with Studio 5000 and SIMATIC PLC Systems • Experience in the following languages VB.Net, ADO.Net & SQL advantageous. • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical technical drawings. • Proven experience in a technical environment. • Experience in automation industry. QUALIFICATIONS: • Degree or technically qualified to BEng / HNC in an electrical discipline or equivalent work experience. • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (optional). KEY ATTRIBUTES: • Ability to travel worldwide to customer sites • Professional manner with good communication skills.
