About the Company

Our client is a global leader in providing world-class loading and unloading solutions to logistics, manufacturing, FMCG, and parcel handling organisations. They design, manufacture, install, and service both automatic and manual loading systems from facilities in the UK, USA, and the Netherlands. Due to continued growth, they are now looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their Engineering Service Support Team. You may be an existing field service engineer or a multi-skilled maintenance engineer looking to move into a field based role!

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the ongoing performance, reliability, and safety of our clients’ systems. Working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team, you’ll carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, repairs, and improvement initiatives across customer sites. You’ll also take part in a call-out rota and support installations and maintenance activities across the UK and occasionally overseas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules and contractual requirements
  • Diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical faults
  • Identify and recommend improvements to equipment and maintenance processes
  • Participate in the service and call-out rota
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with Health & Safety legislation
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and professional written communication
  • Liaise with engineering, operations, and customer teams to support innovation and continuous improvement
  • Effectively manage workload, time, and priorities
  • Report incidents, accidents, and near misses promptly, contributing to preventative strategies

Health & Safety

  • Comply with all company, client, and statutory Health & Safety policies
  • Follow safe working practices, COSHH, fire, hygiene, and site rules
  • Remain aware of site-specific hazards and actively promote a safe working environment

Training & Development

  • Attend performance development reviews (PDRs) and take ownership of your ongoing training
  • Participate in company and legislative training as required

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide support to other UK and international sites when required
  • Safeguard company and client property and equipment
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Escalate issues and customer concerns appropriately
  • Share best practices and process improvements across the team

About You

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • City & Guilds qualification or completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Proven experience in a similar engineering environment (e.g. logistics, FMCG, manufacturing, or parcel handling) working with Conveyor systems
  • Strong background in delivering PPM schedules, KPIs, and services on customer sites
  • Experience working in environments with robust permit-to-work systems
  • Technically competent in mechanical and electrical systems within distribution or sortation environments would be ideal

  • PLC / PC-based control systems
  • Profibus, AS-i networks
